MP-DX Quick Setup Manual V1.0 1. Raspberry Pi4 Streaming Service - Ropieee is pre-installed to the Sandisk Extreme 64GB Card. It supports Roon Bridge, Airplay, DLNA, Squeezelite and Spotify network streaming protocols. Simply plug in an Ethernet cable to your home router. Ready to enjoy music from your mobile devices anywhere in your home. If your router is not close by, you can get a WiFi Extender with an Ethernet port. If you use Tidal and Qobuz music streaming services, please install Mconnect on your mobile device since Mconnect supports DLNA protocol. If you would like to play music on your USB hard drive, first of all, please make sure the USB hard drive comes with a power supply. USB powered hard drive is not supported. Second, you need to install a Pi OS supporting local playback, such as Volumio. For more details, please visit https://volumio.com/en/get-started/ 2. For the best sound performance, always set 100% output volume on MP-DX and the source devices, such as your mobile phone. Adjust volume through your amplifier only. DAC digital volume control is for your convenient use only, not for very critical listening sections. 3. Short push the encoder knob on the right-hand side to change different inputs. To enter setup menu, long push the encoder knob for about 3-5 seconds. The setup menu should show up. Rotate left or right to change each setting. Short push advances to the next menu. Settings are automatically saved. In the menu, you can select different types of DAC built-in digital filters. Try each filter out with your favorite music to find out which one you like the best. If you MP-DX comes with the stock clock option, you can choose two different clock frequencies to find out which one sounds the best to your ear. No effect for Femto clock and external clock options. 4. We will publish firmware upgrades to fix bugs and add new features. To upgrade the firmware, turn on “WiFi F/W Update” in the screen menu option. Wait about 1mins. On your computer WiFi settings, search for WIFI SSID name “MP-DX-OTA”, click on it to connect. The password is “123456789abc”. Once it is connected, open your browser, such as Chrome. Enter http://10.10.10.1 , it will open the firmware upgrade page. Choose unzipped firmware upgrade .bin file downloaded from our website. It should be finished in about 20-30 seconds. Don’t power off during the upgrade process. MP-DX will reboot automatically. 5. If you use Bluetooth(BT) audio input, make sure you install the antenna in the package. Only one mobile device can connect to it at a time. 6. There are two switches on the back panel of MP-DX to choose between RCA unbalanced and XLR balanced outputs. Please set them properly. 7. If you like to use ECC82, 12AU7, E80CC, 12BH7, ECC99 and 12SN7 tubes, make sure you set the switch on the power supply board to 12.6V position. When using stock tubes and other supported 6.3V filament tubes such as 6H1n, 6H23n, 6H30Pi, 6SN7, 6922, 6DJ8, E88CC, remember to set it back to 6.3V. Don’t mix 12.6V and 6.3V filament tubes together. 8. If you use USB input with a Windows PC computer, USB driver can be download from: https://amanero.com/drivers/combo384_drivers_w10_1067.zip Mac OS, IOS, Android and Linux don’t need to install a driver. 9. If you want to use an external clock to connect the main board SMA clock input terminal, please set the jumper beside the SMA terminal from INT position to EXT position. The clock frequency can be from 22.5792Mhz to 50Mhz. Voltage needs to be 2.8V to 3.3V. 10. Output coupling capacitors are user changeable. It needs to be non-polar, >=400V voltage, 1uF – 10uF is acceptable. For VCAP odam, 2.2UF-3.3UF is recommended. For Audio Note Copper, 2.2UF is the max can be fitted in. 11. For MP-CLK external clock option, you should charge it up with a regular USB charger until the green LED lit up which means fully charged. For the best sounding performance, either disconnect the USB type C cable, or push up the power button on the type C USB cable during music playback. Only charge the battery when not listening. A full charge can last at least 7days.
